I was sick my entire school career, especially when high stress events were occurring. Â Transparent, but as a child I felt powerless and this gave me some sense of control over what was a horrid environment. Â School is not the right place for every child, in some cases parents might heed their children's deeper message and consider whether school is the best choice.
My second son (the baby) tends to fake sick frequently. Not always when there's a test, sometimes when he is just short on attention. I have discovered when he's feeling "sick" if I mention how sad that is because I was hoping he would be available for ___(an after school project) he frequently feels like he could possibly make it to school that day. Sometimes in my busy schedule I forget to make time for him. Also an early bedtime across the board seems to make for better mornings.
I can tell when Matt has a math test just by when he says his throat feels sore!
